Happy Halloween Week!
There are just a few more days until Halloween, and you may be looking at your bare nails and thinking, “Geez, these could be a lot more festive. But I’m not very good at nail art.”
Well, today I’ve got an easy Halloween nails look that doesn’t take much effort or time.
Check out the Jack o Lantern nail art!

Clik here to view. The nails feature a black background with cute little ghostly jack o lanterns with black eyes and a black mouth. I finished it all off with a matte top coat (optional).
Here’s how I created the Jack o Lantern nail art:
- Start with a clear base coat. I used Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat.
- Paint your nails with a good black nail polish. I used Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Black on Black. Let it dry.
- Carefully create circles on each nail using an orange nail polish. The circles don’t have to be perfect since pumpkins come in all sorts of shapes. I used butter LONDON Nail Polish in Silly Billy. Let this dry completely before moving on.
- Draw eyes and a mouth on each pumpkin with a black polish. For this step, I used the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen in Round Black, but if you don’t have that, you could use a toothpick and the black polish you used in step 2 instead. Let it dry.
- Seal it all up with a top coat. I used butter LONDON Matte Finish shine-free top coat.
Alternative: Cover the entire design in a glow-in-the-dark nail polish as your last step to make it extra spooky.
You’re done! It’s really a lot easier than you’d expect and you might already have all the supplies on hand. If you try this jack o lantern nail art, I’d love to see how it turned out! Just post a link to the image in the comments below.
Good luck!
Speaking of Jack o Lanterns…
Have you carved pumpkins yet? I carved my first last night with my mom (tradition!) and am carving another one with friends tonight.
Check out my first pumpkin:
Don’t be too impressed. I totally used a stencil.
Happy Halloween week!
